Monique Brynnel and Jon Weaving, who between them have over 60 years of experience in leading roles in main Opera Houses and Concert Halls in Europe and Australia, will be conducting Master Classes internationally during 2008.

Both singers have been teaching privately and at the School of Music at Melbourne University, since 1993.

Jon Weaving focuses on OPERA, LIEDER and ENGLISH SONG and helps with vocal technique. His numerous operatique roles include Siegfried, Lohengrin, Chenier, Florestan, Otello, Hoffmann, Siegmund, Erik, Hermann, etc., in the U.K., Germany, France, Switzerland, Canada, the USA, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, etc. He has also appeared world wide in Operetta in the leading roles in The Merry Widow, Die Fledermaus, Land of Smiles, Orpheus in the Underworld, etc.

Monique Brynnel's subject is about HOW TO PREPARE FOR MUSICAL THEATRE AUDITIONS. Monique is a very versatile singer having performed everything from Jazz, Folk Song, Musical Theatre, Operetta and Opera in Europe and Australia.

This specific work shop is focused on building up the confidence for auditions through better understanding of the whole process and will ensure that future audition preparations will be as good as possible.

  • What are auditions all about?
  • How do I hear about auditions?
  • How do I best prepare myself?
  • What am I suited for?
  • How do I know what songs to choose?
  • Audition etiquette.
  • How do I deal with nerves?
  • How should I present myself?
  • What should I NOT be doing at auditions?

Each student will be preparing two contrasting songs and on the last day of each workshop there will be a public performance where the performers will have the opportunity to show their work.
